• Does French Girl Have Options For My Skin Type?

Our products are appropriate for all skin types from sensitive to mature: they’re free of nut oils and other allergens, non-irritating, paraben free, and gluten free. Check the specific products for recommendations for your skin type.

  • What About Expiration Or Shelf Life?

We use three special preservatives all derived from natural ingredients such as aspen bark and fermented radish root (leucidal) and advise our customers to use within 6 months of opening for highest quality. Unopened products, that are not exposed the heat and high temperatures have a shelf life of approximately one year (Although we have some batch samples that are still fresh and viable even after 3 years.) Remember to always store your products in a cool, dry spot to preserve its quality.

  • Do You Offer Samples?

We offer sample sizes of all of our facial skincare products and liquid perfumes.

  • Are Your Products 100% Vegan?

Every last one of our products are created without any ingredients derived from animals, including our mineral lip tints and bronzers. We are Carmine-free and Cruelty Free.

  • How Do You Test Your Products?

We formulate our products and then undergo months of real life trials with them and never, ever test on animals or use ingredients that are tested on animals. In addition, we choose not to market our products to countries (such as China) that require animal testing. "Tested on French Girls, Never on Animals" is our motto.

  • What Are Some Of Your Bestsellers?

Our Rose Lip Polish has been a real hit and may be used by everyone, plus it makes a great gift. Other stellar products are the Neroli Cleansing Wash, Rose Facial Polish, Lumière Body Oils (especially the Moonlight and Bronzing), our go-to Organic Lip Tints, and the Rose and Jasmin Sea Spray Hair mist.

  • Are Organic Ingredients Really That Important?

French Girl has a commitment to supporting organic agriculture around the world. It is of supreme importance that we eliminate pesticides on the Earth since the use of agricultural herbicides and pesticides only serves to increase insect-resistant crops which leads to more chemical intervention. The cycle must be broken. We intend to do our small part in advocating the use of organic ingredients in body and skincare products. Since the skin is the body's largest organ and absorbs much of what is applied to it, doesn't it make sense that we use the cleanest & purest ingredients in our products? Mais Oui!

  • What is Fractionated Coconut Oil? Does French Girl Use It?

Fractionated Coconut Oil (Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides) is used in a large number of "Organic" or "Natural" products. To create this product, a fraction of the coconut molecule is removed (lauric acid) resulting in a liquid oil. Coconut oil is almost 50% lauric acid and at French Girl, we use whole, natural and organic oils only. We choose not to use this ingredient in most of our products (only a small amount is used in our Sea Salt Hair Mist) since we consider it to be a "filler" type oil, that has emollient properties, yet is very low in the quality factors that we rely on from coconut oil. We prefer to use the more complete (and costly) whole natural oils in our products.

  • What Is The Difference Between Organic and Synthetic Perfume?

Natural or Organic Perfumes use no synthetic materials (such as Aldehydes, Aroma Enhancers, or Chemically Produced Scents or Fragrance Oils). Natural perfumers use only Essential Oils distilled from plant materials and at French Girl we also do not use Hexane extracted Absolutes. Hexane is a very toxic solvent obtained from the petrochemical industry. We use as many naturally produced, organic or wildcrafted essential oils as we can obtain from our many small suppliers in distilleries around the world, still creating quality products through the centuries-old technique of steam distillation or cold pressing. We think this results in a superior, toxic-free, beautifully scented product. Because our perfumes do not contain aroma enhancing components, they will not last as long as a commercial parfum; they are much more intimate and subtle, yet just as alluring.

  • What Are Your Favorite Materials To Create With?

I began French Girl as an organic perfumer and aromatherapist, so the essential oils that I use to formulate all the beautiful scents of our products (including the Organic Parfums) will always remain on the top of my list. It is amazing the range of luxurious scents that are derived from the flora of the Earth and the therapeutic properties that they contain. Of late, I have also been enamored with the hydrating power of Coconut Water and Coconut Milk and have developed a line of products that will launch in January 2017 that will contain these ingredients.

  • What Is The Difference Between Natural Oils and Organic Oils?

Natural Oils are processed without chemical intervention, such as being extracted by petrochemical solvents; they are either cold pressed or expeller pressed from the natural product, such as seeds or plant materials. At French Girl, we go one (important) step further and formulate with Certified Organic Oils. Our primary reason: Organic oils do not contain any pesticide or herbicide residue (which concentrates in the oil portion of a plant or animal). We definitely want to avoid that in our skincare!
